Wounds of Wisdom Pakistan (WOW) is a Research project initiated by right for time network about intergenerational transformation of trauma and resilience. Icon for Child and Adult nurturing (ICAN) in collaboration with University of Birmingham and World Awareness for Children in Trauma UK (WACIT) implemented the project in Pakistan. The Research is Led by DR Sajida Hassan (Pakistan) and Research Associate Ms. Syeda Zeenat Fatima (Pakistan). The research was supervised by Professor Panos (WACIT-UK).
The project was designed to be in two phases and 11 Peer Educators along with 3 Peer Advisors were hired to be the part of Awareness program for 6 Months. With this, 2 targeted areas of Karachi Pakistan i.e Lyari and Lines areas were identified from where the 10 consultant families were taken on board to provide the important information about their life experiences’ on intergenerational transformation of trauma and resilience. The two areas identifed had representative welfare organizations named Gulabi Baithak (Lines area) and Azme Lyari (Lyari) which helped from the hiring process till the consultation sessions and still on board for the execution of second phase.
In the first phase of WOW-PK an introductory session with the families took place at Hotel Mehran Karachi where Peer Educators and Peer Advisors met the families they were supposed to work in long run. After the meeting a series of 17 training sessions on different topics by National and international speakers including Professor Panos (UK), DR SAIMA (Pak), DR NAIMA (Pak) Ms. HAFZA (UK), Ms. SHEZRAY HASHMI (UK), Ms. SUKOON FATIMA (Pak), Ms. INSIYA (PAK) on different topics including, Trauma, Resilience, Emotional literacy etc.
After successful training program, the peer educators were ready to step out in the field and therefore they were divided into two groups which was to specify each group responsible for awareness sessions in each area i.e Lyari and Lines area.
In the second phase, trained group of peer educators and peer advisors were asked to design 5 workshops each group. 5 workshops were designed in consideration of the session requirement in the research i.e.

- one session with Teachers,
- 2 sessions with Youth (boys and girls each)
- one session with vulnerable Adult,
- one session with Mothers
